Childbirth Education

Our events are now online—Due to the unpredictable circumstances of COVID-19, our 2020 Childbirth Education is available via virtual delivery until further notice. 

Pregnancy is a new and exciting time in your life. Childbirth education empowers you to understand the process of labor and birth, trust your inner wisdom, and make informed health care choices for you and your baby.

Childbirth Express

This fast-paced class gives expectant families an overview of the normal process of labor and birth. Learn labor coping strategies, interventions, medication options, and tour the Women and Children's Health Unit.

Beyond Birth - Caring for Baby

This class focuses on the care of your new baby. Learn about normal newborns, signs of illness, bathing, diapering, swaddling, newborn behavior, sleep, and more!

Breastfeeding 101

This class prepares expectant families for breastfeeding their new baby. Topics include the mechanics of nursing, including latching and position, how to know the baby is getting enough milk, and avoiding breastfeeding roadblocks. Taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant.

Keeping Baby Safe

This important class covers the basics of infant CPR, choking, first aid, baby-proofing your home, and other important safety topics! Recommended for all new parents.

Baby-Wearing Meet-Ups

Expectant, new, and experienced parents are welcome at this afternoon of baby wearing! Come learn tips and tricks, share your favorite carrier or try a different type of carrier, learn safety tips, and more! No experience needed.

Prenatal Aquatic Exercise Class

Prepare yourself for the birth process! The buoyancy effect of water decreases stress on the joints, reduces swelling and pain, and promotes wellness.

Schedule: Every Tuesday, 5:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $5.00 per class. Participants must pay in advance in person by the first Tuesday of every month.

Prenatal Smoking Cessation Education and Support Group

Pregnant moms and partners learn about ways to help reduce/quit smoking, how to deal with people who smoke around them, and meet other moms to find out what is working for them. Call the Prenatal Coordinator at 603-354-6641 for dates, times and more information.

Growing Together with Mom’s Club

The first few months of your baby’s life can be magical, stressful, confusing, wonderful, exhausting, and at times lonely. Seeking the support and friendship of other mothers going through the same experience at the same time can be one of the greatest gifts you give yourself and your child.

From birth to 18 months, bring your baby to Cheshire’s free Mom’s Club to discuss concerns, offer tips, and receive expert guidance from Certified Lactation Consultants and other moms. Give and get the support you need and grow together in a supportive learning environment.

Mom and Baby Exercise Class

Taking postpartum classes can help you stay healthy, supported, and connected with other mothers in our community. This popular postpartum exercise class is taught by an experienced physical therapist. She will teach you exercises you and your child can do together, as well as how to massage your baby.

Schedule: Every Wednesday 3:00 to 4:00 pm.
