Video: You can help bring new 3D mammography to Cheshire’s patients

Breast cancer survivors from around the Monadnock Region share how early detection through mammography saved their lives.

In the United States, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. In New Hampshire, we have the fourth highest rate of breast cancer per capita in the nation.

At Cheshire Medical Center, we perform more than 7,000 mammograms annually. Cancer screenings are a vital part of the care we provide to our patients, but our existing mammography machine is nearing the end of its useful lifespan. We need our community’s help to purchase a new, state-of-the-art 3D mammography unit that will fitter provide the most advanced breast cancer screening technology available.

Spofford resident and breast cancer survivor Elaine Dall credits the exceptional care she has received at Cheshire, including regular mammograms performed on technologically advanced equipment, for her health today. She decided to share her breast cancer experience with others when she learned the Medical Center needs a new 3D mammography machine.

You never think it will happen to you. Nothing prepares you for the news that you have breast cancer.

Elaine Dall, a Cheshire patient and breast cancer survivor

In the video above, you’ll hear from Elaine and five other breast cancer survivors from our community about how routine mammograms resulted in their breast cancers being discovered early and how that impacted each of them. We are grateful to each of these women for coming forward and sharing their deeply personal stories with us.

To date, we’ve raised 74 percent of the $731,000 purchase price for the new 3D mammography machine. Please help us fund this important patient care equipment by making a gift today. Giving is easy: visit Cheshire Health Foundation or call our Philanthropy office at 603-354-6800. Every gift, no matter the amount, will make a real difference.

Thank you for helping us care for our community!
