Our clinic is designed to be a local resource for patients and families, right here in the community. We focus on early diagnosis, lifestyle guidance and first-line treatment for high blood pressure.
Maryam Gul, MDThe Nephrology Department at Cheshire Medical Center, a division of Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics Cheshire, is now offering a comprehensive Hypertension Clinic, offering expert care for high blood pressure management.
The clinic—which began accepting patients in July—is run by Maryam Gul, MD, Cheshire’s certified hypertension specialist.
“Our clinic is designed to be a local resource for patients and families, right here in the community,” Gul said. “We focus on early diagnosis, lifestyle guidance and first-line treatment for high blood pressure.”
High blood pressure affects nearly half of adults in the United States, but only one in four have it under control. Improperly managing high blood pressure can lead to heart disease, stroke and other health concerns. In 2023, high blood pressure was the primary or contributing cause in more than 650,000 national deaths.
Patients who go through the clinic will receive detailed guidance on how to measure blood pressure accurately at home, with 24-hour monitoring devices available for those who need them. The clinic also offers medication management and life-style modification coaching.
For patients who haven’t been able to lower their blood pressure, the clinic can dig deeper, uncovering hidden causes and connecting patients with the appropriate specialists. When advanced care is needed, the clinic serves as a bridge to seamlessly refer patients to the certified hypertension center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where they will receive collaborative care with their Cheshire provider.
“High blood pressure care doesn’t have to feel far away,” Gul said. “Our clinic brings first steps, lifestyle guidance and treatment right here in the neighborhood.”
Cheshire’s Hypertension Clinic is available on the second Tuesday of the month, located on Floor 2A of Cheshire’s Court Street campus. For more information, call 603-354-6622 or visit cheshiremed.org/nephrology.
