We know how much you care
We know you care deeply about Cheshire's patients and one another because we see it every day through the work you do. Because Cheshire Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital, philanthropic support is vital to helping us maintain the quality services, programs, and facilities that make Cheshire a community treasure. This year we are asking every Cheshire employee to consider making a gift - every dollar will make a difference - in support of the Our Community, Our Future, Our Family Employee Campaign to further demonstrate your commitment to our patients, our community, our future and one another. Together, we can reach the goal of raising $42 million toward Cheshire's Capital Campaign and not only impact patient care for generations to come, but also show our patients, our community and our colleagues how important they are to us.
Cancer Care, Surgical Services, and Advanced Outpatient Medicine
Your gift through Employee Campaign will help Cheshire raise $42 million toward the expansion of the Cancer Center, Surgical Services and advanced outpatient medicine. Work has already started to expand the Cancer Center to add a second linear accelerator for radiation therapy. Our existing linear accelerator is the most heavily used in the state and runs at or beyond capacity on a near daily basis. We must add the second unit to meet the growing needs of our community for this vitally important treatment, which is now used in more than half of all cancer cases.
Cheshire is also planning to modernize and expand surgical services; our operating rooms must grow in both size and number. This expansion will make it easier to accommodate modern surgical technologies in our surgical suites, making surgeries more precise and less invasive, and allowing patients to remain close to home before, during and after surgery.
We are also in the early stages of planning to expand accesss to advanced outpatient medicine, beginning with Gastroenterology and additional cancer care treatment areas. And, now that the Family Medicine Residency Program's practice space is complete, the planning for utilization of the remaining space at the Maple Avenue Campus is beginning.
These three strategic areas of expansion will not only enable Cheshire to address specific patient care needs but also will also position us to be able to reinvest in the Medical Center. Reinvestment will allow us to address the needs that other teams and departments have. When we all give, we all benefit.
All donations stay right here at the Medical Center where they will have the greatest impact.
