Cheshire Medical Center offers scholarships for staff and area students as part of our commitment to healthcare education and our recognition of the critical role of nursing in our organization and in our patients’ lives.
Cheshire Health Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is available for the general public and employees. It was made possible by a gift from Leslie S. Hubbard in memory of his wife, Iola M. Hubbard, and by Alice Gilbert in memory of her husband, Frederick Gilbert.
To qualify for consideration you must be:
A student entering into a four-year baccalaureate nursing program as a full-time freshman in the fall of 2023. The student's residency must be in Cheshire or Sullivan County in New Hampshire or Windham County in Vermont,

Bradshaw Scholarship
This scholarship is available for the general public and employees. It was established by John R. Bradshaw to honor the memory of his beloved wife, Bess.
To qualify for consideration, you must be:
A student with residency in Cheshire County in New Hampshire and entering into a registered nursing program.

Ben Tatro Memorial Healthcare Scholarship
This scholarship is available for the general public and employees. It was established to honor the memory of Ben Tatro, a beloved Cheshire County community member and an advocate of healthcare and community service. Anyone can contribute to this fund in Ben Tatro's name via Cheshire Health Foundation.
To qualify for consideration you must:
Provide proof of employment of applicant or parent of the applicant at either Cheshire Medical Center or an EMS/Rescue agency within Cheshire County and be matriculated in a degree program in healthcare.

Professional Nursing Scholarships
These scholarships are available for employees only. We are committed to helping staff who desire to advance their nursing education. We hope that these additional professional nursing scholarships, along with existing education benefits, will reduce financial barriers and allow more individuals to pursue their educational goals.
Available Nursing Scholarships
- Scholarships are available to RNs or LPNs who are currently employed with committed hours, and who are actively enrolled in a BSN (dual enrollment ADN/BSN), master’s, doctoral, or PhD in Nursing program
- Limited scholarships are available for matriculation in a nurse practitioner program
Applicant Criteria
- Employees from any area of Cheshire Medical Center and satellite locations
- Employees in good standing
- Proof of matriculation in a nursing program accredited by the ACEN or the CCNE
- Per diem employees are considered subject to available funds
Terms of Scholarships
Eligible expenses include tuition and required fees & books.

The Cindi Coughlin Professional Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is available for employees only. It was established in 2018 upon Cindi’s retirement as the Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. Cindi dedicated forty years to serving our patients and community and strengthening the professional practice of nursing at Cheshire. In her professional nursing practice, Cindi was profoundly dedicated to the professional development of nurses and the advancement of nursing practice.
Applicant Criteria
Employees from any area of Cheshire Medical Center and satellite locations who are in pursuit of baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral nursing degrees, leadership development programs, or certifications.

How to contribute to a scholarship fund
The Cheshire Health Foundation manages scholarship funds for Cheshire Medical Center and donors. You have the option to contribute to an existing fund or establish a new one.
