Free Community Health Education Classes to Be Offered This Fall

Keene, NH – Cheshire Medical Center, a member of Dartmouth Health, is pleased to offer several free community education classes this fall.
 
Offered through Cheshire’s Center for Population Health, the classes are designed to help increase public access to wellness education, ultimately helping our community members live healthy, well-balanced lives. The following classes will be available this fall:
 
Mind Full to Mindful – Virtual Series
  • Every Thursday from September 10 to November 5 from 5 to 6 pm
The Mind Full to Mindful program is a free nine-week program designed to transform your approach to mindfulness and empower you to take charge of your emotions. This program—consisting of nine classes over nine weeks—is for people new to mindfulness, eager to discover its incredible benefits or seeking to elevate their current practice. Deadline to register is September 10.
 
Chair Yoga – Cheshire Medical Center, Main Campus
Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga practiced sitting in a chair or standing while using a chair for support. As with other forms of yoga, this exercise helps to reduce stress and improves balance, strength and flexibility.
 
Balance and Fall Risk Screening – Location will be confirmed when the appointment date and time are confirmed
The Balance and Risk Fall Screening is designed for adults age 65 and older who want to maintain independence and mobility, while also staying safe. This comprehensive, 20-minute screening brings together rehabilitation and healthcare professionals to identify factors that may contribute to falls and provide personalized recommendations for reducing fall risk.
 
Balance and Mobility Training – Cheshire Medical Center, Main Campus
The Balance and Mobility Training class is designed to improve coordination, build functional strength and increase confidence in daily movements. This low-impact session will target the body’s stability stabilizers—the core, ankles and hips. The class is suitable for both beginner and active older adults.
 
Early Foundation Clinics – Cheshire Medical Center, Main Campus
  • Sleeping: Thursday, October 8, from 9 to 10 am
  • Feeding: Thursday, October 15, from 9 to 10 am
  • Toileting: Thursday, October 22, from 9 to 10 am
  • Behavior: Thursday, October 29, from 9 to 10 am
The Early Foundation Program is designed to provide valuable support for children from birth to age 6, along with their parents or caregivers. This program addresses a variety of common challenges that families often face, consisting of sleeping, feeding, toileting and behavior. Join us for one or all four of these parent workshops.
 
Top 5 Tips for Colon Health – Cheshire Medical Center, Main Campus
Whether you currently struggle with gastrointestinal issues or just want to avoid future problems, this information session is for you. The session will review straightforward, science-backed strategies you can employ to improve your colon health and reduce your risk of colorectal cancer, from medical testing you should get to the best foods to feed your gut.
