Julie R. Cookish, MSN, APRN
Family Medicine
I chose to work in family medicine because it allows me to build ongoing relationships with my patients. Developing trusting relationships helps my patients feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their concerns. This trust allows me to help them advocate for their health.
Together we work to find ways to prevent disease and manage their chronic conditions. My goal is to keep them from finding themselves in a health crisis situation. I see my role as a teacher and a resource for my patients. If I don’t know the answer to their question, I can refer them to someone at Dartmouth-Hitchcock or in the community who does.
It’s gratifying to see my patients succeed at their goals. When they feel happy about the changes they’ve made to improve their health and the hard work done, it’s rewarding for them and for me.
