Kevin Hannon, PMHNP, APRN
Family Medicine
I work with the rest of the primary care team to help answer questions about the psychiatric side of things, whether that’s clarifying diagnoses or looking at treatment recommendations. My object is to make sure that what we're doing is based on the evidence and that it's not going to do more harm than good. I'm here to help, listen and point things in the right direction.
There's a huge amount of misunderstanding and stigma around mental health, and it's been a passion of mine for years. As someone who has seen mental health patients in my professional life for a long time, I'm comfortable talking about it, and listening especially. Patients are surprised with how easy it is to have a discussion with me. It’s gratifying to get feedback that patients feel heard for the first time in a long time, or feel more hopeful after talking.
There's no one size fits all in mental health. Success is when a patient who was struggling is now able to say, “I feel like I don't need help anymore.” It’s actually rewarding when a patient recovers to that point, because it means things are going great for them and that whole part of their life is now in the past.
