Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Cheshire Medical Center is committed to recruiting underrepresented minorities and physicians with diverse backgrounds to our residency program as faculty and residents.

Diversity of ideas and experience are integral to our educational and clinical missions. In this context, we are mindful of all aspects of what makes us unique including:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender, gender identity, or expression
  • Genetic information
  • National origin
  • Race
  • Religion
  • Sexual orientation
  • Socio-economic status
  • Veteran status

We are committed to providing a welcoming, respectful and supportive environment valuing the contributions of all team members. As healthcare professionals, we acknowledge how health disparities and inequities disproportionately affect those from marginalized backgrounds. Through education, professional development, modeling, policy and practice, we strive to improve care and reduce inequities in the communities we serve.

Cheshire also has its own active Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee, which works to further those ideals through events, education, communication, and activism.
